As a Project Surveyor, your technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail will be vital in ensuring projects are completed on time, within scope, and to professional standards.Responsibilities<ul><li>Draft a variety of plats and survey documents using Civil 3D, including Land Development Plats, Utility Easement Plats, ALTA/NSPS Boundary Surveys, Topographic Surveys, and various exhibits.</li><li>Collaborate with project managers and team leaders to evaluate project scope, schedule, budget, and instructions.</li><li>Coordinate daily activities for at least one field crew and/or survey technician.</li><li>Process and verify survey data using Excel, Trimble Business Center, and other survey programs.</li><li>Conduct research on deeds, maps, and prior surveys; perform boundary analysis and determinations.</li><li>Maintain exceptional relationships with internal teams and external clients.</li><li>Organize and maintain project drawings, plot files, and related documentation.</li><li>Prepare Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) for projects prior to initiation.</li><li>Apply boundary law principles and regulatory standards to ensure survey accuracy.</li></ul>Essential Skills<ul><li>Strong user experience in Civil 3D.</li><li>3+ years of experience in land surveying, including drafting and compiling surveys.</li><li>Experience with ALTA/NSPS Surveys, Topographic Surveys, Land Development Plats, Utility Easement Plats, and various survey exhibits.</li><li>Experience processing surveys using Trimble Business Center (TBC).</li></ul>Additional Skills &amp; Qualifications<ul><li>Survey Degree and on the path to licensure.</li><li>Field Surveying experience is a nice-to-have but not a requirement.</li></ul>Work EnvironmentThe Portage office comprises 12 people, working primarily on utility projects such as natural gas, pipeline, electrical transmission, and distribution. There are also some land development, city/municipality, and industrial projects. This role offers growth opportunities, whether you aim to become a professional land surveyor or advance to a Project Manager position.
