Description Leidos Dynetics is seeking a motivated, detailed-oriented problem-solver to join our modeling and simulation team as a Senior Aerospace Modeling and Simulation Engineer in Charlottesville, VA. You will play a valuable part in developing and testing models of aerospace systems, to include air-launched weapons; ballistic missile systems; avionics; hypersonic vehicles; and guidance, navigation, and controls across a wide range of projects and programs. Primary Responsibilities<ul><li>Develop, integrate, and test models of aerospace systems based on provided information, research, and engineering principles.</li><li>Guide and mentor a team of engineers in the development of representative flight models.</li><li>Document model performance against requirements.</li><li>Document algorithm design.</li><li>Work collaboratively with an engineering team comprised of internal and external team members.</li><li>Interact with external stakeholders to define requirements and perform model demonstrations.</li><li>Candidate must be local to or willing to relocate to the Charlottesville, VA area.</li></ul>Basic Qualifications<ul><li>Candidate must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited university with 8+ years applicable experience (or M.S. with 6+ years)</li><li>Experience with 3DOF/6DOF flight models</li><li>Experience with ballistic missiles, air-launched missiles, or hypersonic vehicles</li><li>Experience in MATLAB/Simulink</li><li>Experience in C++ or Python</li><li>Experience leading a team to meet customer requirements</li><li>Detailed understanding of the systems engineering process</li><li>Demonstrates solid understanding and intuition of the functionality and interdependency of aerospace systems</li><li>Strong written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail to communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders</li><li>Organizational skills to document work and interface with team members to ensure flow of information</li><li>Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Secret Clearance</li><li>Candidate must meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Top Secret Clearance.</li></ul>Preferred Qualifications<ul><li>Experience with configuration management tools such as SVN and Git</li><li>Experience integrating and testing GNC algorithms</li><li>Experience in ITASE or AFSIM</li><li>Experience leading Modeling and Simulation teams</li></ul>At Leidos, we don't want someone who "fits the mold"-we want someone who melts it down and builds something better.
